Bad blogger

Oh my goodness, I can't believe it's been months since my last blog post.

Life is awesome as usual. Our tenants moved out (yay!) so now the kids all have their own rooms, Randy and I have the master bedroom back and we have 2 bedrooms that are all set up and ready for the first set of homestay students who are arriving tomorrow evening.

We are really excited to be a host family and have spent a lot of time and money getting ready for this newest venture, the money isn't great but I think it's going to be a great experience for our family getting to know these students and it brings in just enough income so that we don't have to be landlords anymore.

The first set of students are a pair of 17 year old Chinese boys who are coming for 13 days to attend a summer program at the International High School here in town. I have agonized over the meal plans and activities and am really hoping they have a great time. We know of homestay families who pack the students in 2 to a room and feed them ramen noodles, I hope that we can give our guests a really fun Canadian experience. We're aiming for good food, good company and as many local activities as we can pack into their short stays. If all pans out we'll be able to take these boys who come from a very large industrial Chinese city and spend a few hours floating down the Cowichan River next weekend. I'm pretty sure that'll be a once in a lifetime experience for them. We're also hoping to hit up Rathtrevor and Coombs and possibly even Silly Boats or the Bathtub races.

Wish us luck!

Wow, I'm so glad you get to move into the rest of your house. I wish you lots of luck with your visitors, you are so organized how can it not be a success!

That is so wonderful that you've put so much thought into the students' experience in your home. They will have a great time for sure!
